Responsibilities /Responsabilités

As a WIFI Test Engineer you will be responsible for developing effective test plans and automation, executing test cases, and creating test reports for several Wi-Fi offerings. You will also work with offshore development team for test coordination, ramp up, and weekly sync ups to monitor progress.  In this role you will collaborate with development, architecture, and quality assurance as part of a scrum team.  You will also work cross collaboratively with a team of hardware engineers, mechanical engineers, RF, lab technicians, and product management.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review requirements, architectural specifications, and design documents for test development and validation to uncover issues prior to implementation;
  • Proactively work with developers to debug software and hardware solutions during new product development;
  • Define and document test plan, test procedure, and test results;
  • Execute wireless and system level performance tests;
  • Analyze failures and defects, and recommend corrective actions;
  • Investigate logs, track and triage defects to determine root cause and establish prioritization;
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior/beginner level Wi-Fi test engineers;
  • BS/BA in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience;
  • Expertise testing and debugging 802.11 implementations;
  • Experience troubleshooting and debugging networking systems;
  • Experience in design and development of automation frameworks and automation testing strategies in the embedded and/or wireless domain;
  • Experience programming with of one or more of the following languages: Python, Java or C/C++;
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Linux operating systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Understanding of Security protocols, WEP, WPA, and WPA2 is a strong plus but not required.
  • Experience defining and developing test automation to improve testing efficiency and coverage;
  • Experience working in a Scrum/Agile environment preferred but not required.
  • Experience using test automation tools, e.g. Spirent, Veriwave

Qualifications / Qualifications

  • At least 8 years’ experience as software Wi-Fi, VoIP, or DOCSIS testing engineer;
  • Wireless Networking Standards – 802.11n, 11ac, 11ax, and Bluetooth. 
  • Operating Systems and Drivers – Strong Linux and Embedded Linux. 
  • Network Protocols - TCP/IP, UDP/IP, VoIP.
  • Scripting Languages - Tcl/TK, Perl.
  • Wi-Fi/wlan automation testing preferred. 
  • Must know RF and strong experience with lab equipment.                                                                                           
  • Motivated and able to work effectively under pressure.                                                                          
  • Experience in test planning and test execution, acceptance, integration, functional, interoperability, and validation testing.
